ABOUT US

Holiday Hope NYC is a grass-roots hands-on charitable organization incorporated in 2011.  Our original mission to provide groceries, warm clothing, and a small gift to New York's challenged children and families has now grown to include group homes for adults with developmental disabilities in northern NJ. A rarity in the charity world, all expenses and overhead are borne personally by our board members.  This means every cent of every donation goes directly to those in need! Holiday Hope NYC was started as an unaffiliated extension of an extremely successful charity from Chicago called Santa for the Very Poor (SVP).  SVP has been providing help to the neediest families in the greater Chicago area for over 55 years.  The vision for Holiday Hope NYC is to emulate and adopt the proven model and message of SVP while serving the needs of families and adults locally in NYC and NJ.

The idea to start Holiday Hope NYC grew out of a class room assignment I was given at Columbia Business School. After a brief phone chat and some kind words of encouragement from John Power, the President of SVP, Holiday Hope NYC was born.  Shortly after, over a few beers with my dear friend Shannon from the 8th grade lunch table,  he signed on we were off to the races!  From our early years which saw us hand delivering items to 5 families in the Bronx and Lower East Side, we now support multiple group homes and numerous families in NJ.  If we can help just one more family celebrate the holidays in 2024, we will consider it a great success.  With your help we can do more, a lot more!  Spread the word or contact us about becoming a director.  It will take very little of your time and I can guarantee you'll get more out if it than you ever imagined.  Happy Holidays and God Bless.
